    So I started playing solo.

And I'm lolwtf terrible at it. I like legit flip shit when I get a 100 combo and then I realize it's all in the 4-key section and that's when I realize I suck at this. I haven't really seen anything around as far as tips go, so does anyone have any pointers besides play easy songs and build up muscle memory?

Play a lot and you'll see marginal improvement. You just need to get the hang of reading the extra 2 columns and using the ring fingers. Brackets of [13][2] and [46][5] are the hardest patterns to master in 6key, so practicing by just tapping the pattern out on your desk/table consecutively can help.

Playing semi-pettanko (middle and ring fingers) on 4key helps with getting a hang of ring trills and it builds finger dexterity. Also, try holding down your index fingers on the keys while you're playing semi-pettanko because it's a lot more challenging and whatever skill is built is transferred to 6key much more easily.

Always challenge yourself and play files just a notch above what you're comfortable with. You won't improve by playing files you're comfortable with over and over again (I learned the hard way, rofl).

^This also try to find a good comfortable spot for your keys.

For example, I used (W,E,R and I,O,P) *because I'm using my laptop* haha
FFR and SM = 1.9-2x (CVM,) (Delta noteskin) (Down)

Solo = 700-725c (SDFJKL) (CS note, Orbular) (Down)

Re: So I started playing solo.

Like any new rhythm game, the main struggle in the initial learning curve is to familiarize yourself with the receptor placements along with the buttons you hit - so a good finger positioning helps build this foundation of understanding. As GD has already said, play with your middle and ring fingers A LOT. If you're playing regular 4-key files, try semi-pettanko middle+ring finger spread setups. Your ring fingers are far more weaker than your index or middle fingers, so you need to strengthen those up - it's no different than strengthening your weak fingers when playing the piano.

Also familiarize yourself with the types of patterns that may appear in 6-key playing. You're well aware of patterns that frequent 4-key playing, such as staircases, jacks, trills, etc. So learn to quickly recognize their solo variants as well.

Thanks for the feedback guys and I'm definitely going to try some of this stuff out. Especially my left hand ring finger, it's extremely weak. Also the only pattern I don't have trouble with is rolls. lmao
