    2x

    Hi everyone.

I have a question. I got a red octane pad for christmas and started playing DDR (actually stepmania) like 4 months ago.

Recently, I started playing some of the songs on 2x speed, and they seemed easier. For instance, I was able to get an A on Brilliant R-E-D on heavy on 2x, but am not able to do well at all at regular speed. Same thing with Giudecca, Delta 32 UFO Remix, Buttefly Upswing Mix, Boys euro mix (god i love this song XD) and some others.

Is it ok to play songs on 2x? Or is it like considered cheating or something. Also, does this just mean that I need to improve at regular speed?, or is this normal.

    Thank you for your help.

Uhhh, Using Speed Mods is not cheating. More than likely you either use them or not. Its your choice. A lot of people use them, If you plan to move on to In The Groove, You will use Speed Mods. So, the answer to your question is no. It is not cheating.

      Re: 2x

Using 2x or any other normal speed mod is CERTAINLY not cheating. There's a tradeoff to using speed mods: you're trading reaction time for clarity. The faster you can read a song, the easier it will be.

      Class: Two Hand 3-Finger
HP: 200 (16th stream combo speed)
      Strength: 155 (max jack speed)
Defense: 205 (8th jump stream speed)
      Speed: 225 (pass stream speed)
Accuracy: 88 (average percent of marvs)
Stamina: 215 (consistent 16th stream survival)
      Evasion: 650 (comfort scroll rate)

It's the same exactly thing skill-wise when you hit the pad. The arrows are just easier to read... but who cares about clustered arrows vs. nonclustered arrows? People care about how well you can hit them with your feet (or fingers, on FFR). So Speed mods are not cheating at all.

Also, Guitar Hero automatically puts them on for you. So yeah. No cheating.

post-dumps abstractly represent the existential nihilism that the song invokes in the listener with negative space, evoking the ephemeral nature of the mind - the journey of stepmania begins in hope yet soon becomes corroded into a dialectic of futility, leaving only a sense of dread and the unlikelihood of a new synthesis

If you keep practicing you'll get up to like X4 and X5. I personaly use X2.5 as a base to most songs. I've been doing every song on X4. Anubis i'll use X5 or so. I only use X2.5 on songs I either haven't played yet or don't know that well.
