By far. It takes a bit to get used to, having to use thumbs and all, but you get used to it.

Playing with the controller is cheating, but with the lack of a metal pad at my house (the dance mats are total crap) I am better with the controller, and even better with a keyboard.

get a Redoctane Ignition pad. it comes with foam inserts so its almost like a hard pad. i got one last christmas and its still kicking. only downside is that it costs about 100$ US

Why not pay an extra 75$ for a metal one then? Red Octane Ignitions are good quality pads, at a reasonable price, but there are some people who rather play it arcade style, or not play it at all. (i.e: me) lol

No. I play heavy with and without a controller. Of course I'm better with a controller but it's not like I take those scores seriously.

I played DDR for 10 hours at the Kalahari (Hotel) and my big toe nail became black and fell off!!!! Pwned by arcade LoL!!!

Then for the next week I just played with contoller.
