Ah damn. I guess I will just save the thought in a text file on my computer then delete it from my profile... but that means I lose all the comments ;_;
I talked it over with the staff and the general feeling is that any time you have a giant wall of text in a random thought that you plan to add to, that thought would be more suited as a thread. I believe that's the case with you, hi19.
Besides, there isn't a good way to accomplish this in the java. Each thought would be hidden by default and you'd have to unhide them all every time you go to your profile. At least that's what the admins tell me.
Well is there a way to organize random thoughts instead of deleting them? I have a random thought I'd like to keep, but the random thought is of the past and some users still post as if that thought was still relevant at present time. I just want to archive it, or at least move that random thought to the back end of my other random thoughts (but that would change the order of thoughts by date). It's important enough for me to keep it, but I don't want users to post in that particular thought anymore and get a wrong impression that was more relevant in the past, but not now.

Both of the posts I want to hide (my tournament journal and my list of AAAs) don't seem particularly suited to a thread.
They're somewhat private things I only had posted for anyone who was curious, but there are some nice comments on those two posts that I would like to save.
If it's too much of a hassle to do on the coding end then that's a legitimate reason, I understand. Like I said, I can always save the text on my computer, and I can copy the comments too I guess.
Random thoughts were designed ass-backwards, so hiding certain thoughts would require redoing parts of the db just to support it. Which sadly was also not very thought out.

Oh I thought you were talking about your feelings on your own files. It doesn't really matter. They're all semi-personal and are probably more like blog posts than threads.
I wonder if we could set thoughts to only print so much of their content before giving a "read more" link which goes to the comment page for that thought. That would certainly reduce the pagestretch. I'd have to wait for an admin's thoughts on whether that's possible but would you support that?
