I think Tass once said that Synthlight preferred to keep all dead accounts just for the sake of making the member count look good.

Can't you still delete your entire account then? (Why would you want to delete your profile and not your acc anyway? Or is profile supposed to mean account? )

that really isn't the reason.... it's that we like to keep a record of the entire history of the site. which includes each and every account that has ever signed up, every post, every profile, yada yada.
Nothing here is permanantly deleted, even things where the temporary deletion changes all relevant numbers about the site, so your implication that things are kept to keep numbers inflated is simply incorrect.
When threads get deleted, postcounts lower, the total number of posts and threads in the section are lowered, to all intents and purposes, the thread and posts simply didn't happen, and yet we have each and every one of them in a form which could be accessed and restored if we need to.

Wow, is that just how the database is? Or did the coders have to do that?
Or does the database automatically record everything that goes on- i.e posts, and threads etc.
We have the option to delete something, or permanantly remove it. Deleting it leaves it in a state where we can restore it. Removing it permanantly does just that.
