    Clearing Old Members?

Just throwing a topic out here to debate -

What if we deleted the accounts of everyone that has been inactive for more than three years? Would the structure of the game even allow that? Not saying that this is good or bad, but the current system basically has you rated against ever player who has ever played that song before.

    What do you guys think?

Maybe just throw out scores of 3 or even 5 year inactive people.

Why, though? To make your ranks go down?

I guess the whole account makes more sense. All those 8 year old inactive accounts with all the usernames people want. Maybe somehow keep them there but label them as inactive so that if someone tries to make that account it would just overwrite it.

It just seems like those accounts are just taking up space ... like old relics. On the other hand competing against their old scores can be challenging too, not only in the level ranks, but in GT as well. The average rank token and the top 1,000 GT scoreboard would be a lot easier to get on, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

                  Re: Clearing Old Members?

When this site was down, I was wondering whether or not it would be brought back up, and if it was, whether or not we'd all have our scores again. I decided it would have been nice for me to have a fresh start, especially since I would be really rusty by the time it came back up. I considered making a new account when the site came back up, but decided against it in order to not have another idle account sitting around.

I remember that it was nearly impossible to delete accounts. With the way the databases are set up, a lot of things break when a username is removed. It's the same reason why we can't change usernames.

if its about lowering your rank, just blacklist any account that hasn't been signed onto in over 3 years... only thing is, can you unblacklist them if they come back?

maybe just clear there scores or something... idk my ranks won't be affected so i dont really care

I think all users should have a "reset all scores" button they can click if they'd like a fresh start or a challenge.

I also think that while I have no issue removing very inactive accounts (No login for at least 4 years would be my MINIMUM) the only way to delete them and have it actually effect anything, we'd need to -fully- delete them, which comes up against an 8-year policy of NEVER completely deleting ANYTHING.

A reste a scores button would be great. That way I wouldn't have to ask sprite to clear my scores

He's basically conservative about FFR so I might be able to guess.
