    FFR practice mode

Well I've been playing some of the Guru songs and there are certain parts in them that I just can't seem to do yet, so maybe there could be some type of practice mode you could access and work on those spots that are really giving you trouble on AAA'ing or FCing.

Just a thought, probably won't be worked on anytime soon though

I think someone asked for this before, I think they said no. Maybe if you give better details it might happen, I dunno.

Well there could be a button on the screen saying "Practice" and when you click on it, all the songs will be listed in alphabetical order and you choose a song. Then you can decide which measure to start on.

that would actually be pretty cool that way you can practice only th hard parts and not play threw the whole song cool idea dossar

Dang, I had this same idea as well! Something like have the song broken down into parts so you can work on each section. But someone told me it would take up a lot of space on the site. D: I am in for the idea though.

            That's very SM like.

I like the idea, but I can only imagine how much coding it would be. =/

You could always study the replays of the songs you are having trouble with; it does help a little bit. =)

            EDIT: Wait, wtf, Dossar, you're only 14? O_O;

Well the problem about replays is that you can't immediately go to a spot where you want and you have to go through the entire song over an over just to look at it again

Yeah, it does get repetitive. The best you can do is pinpoint all of the problem areas, and stop to each point individually. =/

This suggests to me that giving you the abilty to skip forward to any part of the song is more complicated than it sounds. I really don't know enough about flash to state with any kind of certainty, but I know that I can't really think of much I've ever seen in flash with a fast forward button.

The usual request for a practice mode is a mode where you can play the song whether in whole or in part, without it counting as gameplays or impacting your stats/rankings.

The reason it gets denied is that the administration want you to actually be playing the game, so the stats reflect your entire process of gaining skill and learning the songs.

Otherwise, you just play on practice mode until you're able to consistantly AAA the song, then log your 2 or 3 attempts and a AAA, which is -not- accurate ranking statistics.

                    Re: FFR practice mode

I agree with Devonin. Upon all the suggestions brought up regarding this topic, attempting to code this will be time consuming, and possibly difficult to do so. Practice mode defies the point of 'practicing' a song, if you only select two boundaries within a song to practice.

Although it may improve the ability of a player, the difficulty of songs won't actually be difficult anymore, if you are able to practice the last 30 seconds of the song where you cannot achieve a perfect score. That would mean you can play that end section over and over, then play the song as a whole. This defies the idea of 'playing a song'. Also as Devonin has mentioned, our statistics will not reflect our true ability.

The game is a matter of skill, and skill comes with patience.

I disagree with FFR Practice Mode.

If you want to be like Rubix, play for seven years.

                      So I agree with patience.

I thought about bringing this up a month or so ago. Patience is good blah blah yes, we know, but being able to go straight to one part of a song that gives you trouble would be very nice. It doesn't matter if you can play all the way through a song or not if you know you can't get through one part. Getting through a tough part is step one, putting the easy parts and the tough parts together and getting it all perfect in one run is step two.

I'm not telling everyone to give up their life for FFR. I'm saying that the whole aspect of this 'practice' defies the point of the game. If you wish to do that, I suggest you to do it on Stepmania, or any other simulators. If you look at how people are playing now, it doesn't require 7 years to be good.

As I have already mentioned, the overall performance of the users on FFR will definitely boom, however its not very smart to release something like this. As Devonin said, our statistics won't be an accurate reflection of our true ability.

That's what makes a song more challenging than another. I use to sometimes wish that the last 100 combo of Epidermis was actually in the first 100 combo of that song. You should utilise everything you do have access to; I screenshot the last section of the song, putting it together and analysing it in one go. New features do go into FFR, for the benefit for others, however, I know you people have been rambling on about patience, however, we still don't know if the coding will be possible. It may or may not be a difficult feature to utilise. If everything was about patience and nothing was about coding, FFR would be a whole lot different to what it is now.

Right, it doesn't take 7 years to be "good" at FFR but to achieve the rank of God or to be "Perfect" will definitely accumulatively take a few amount of years based on stamina, dedication, and the time spent playing this game based on average calculations partially substantial to that of SM.

Stepmania on the other hand focuses on both speed and accuracy. It gives you the options to change judge levels and also the options to adjust any desired speed mod in favor to it's player. There is a variety of choices compared to the limited ones we have here in FFR.

Our brains aren't supercomputers and have yet to be evolved. We are still bound by the human condition. But we learn to adapt slowly. Time is of the essence so we learn to use it wisely. No, I'm not telling someone to spend every hour of the day on FFR for the next 7 years but practice on a daily basis to reach a state to the point where we can fully backwards engineer this game and understand every aspect of it.
