Reputation system

Give good or bad rep depending on the user's post.


edit: You know...to give them a hint on how well to make their posts. I won't name anybody to use as examples, but forum regs and new comers should know who they are.

Might also need to have mods and admin to review the rep to make sure there is no favoritism (intentionally giving someone bad rep or good rep).

No. This wouldn't work.

People would give reputation because they like a person or they think they're hot or something, not based on the content of their posts.

Reputation would be a terrible thing to add to this forum. There is no way to monitor how someone decides to give reputation. Favoritism isn't so easily detected.

Ahahahah you don't seem to know forums do you. Reputation is a horrible thing to implement. People don't give reputation to people who make good posts, people give reputation to those they "like" or "dislike".

Essentially what you're saying is you want the most popular people in FFR Profiles to be the most "respected" here, as that's all that will happen.

"OH HOT GIRL +REP +REP"
"OH GOD I DONT LIKE HIM -REP ALL HIS POSTS"
etc.

It stops people looking at the actual content of the post and more about who is posting it. I know this from experience and seeing it happen in former forums I have been on. It's a massive circle-jerk.

Screw post counts and reps, IMO. They're both used, obviously, to show-off what you've done, or how much you've whored the forum. Not everyone, but a lot.

Anybody who postwhores or points to their postcount as indicative of anything pretty clearly says -something- but maybe not what they wanted to.
