    random lag?

what up with the random bits of lag here and there. a lot of times they happen at the slowest part of the song so i know its not an overload. but they always tend to occur when i have a large streak, as if a demented ffr god is laughing from above as i smash my keyboard cus lag ruined my 1000 note streak

since everyone wants to know my specs here goes:
    windows xp
    pentium 4 2.1 ghrtz
    1 gig ram
256 mb nvidea (6200)* i think its 6200, but i havent seen it in months
lets just say i can run elder scrolls 4: oblivian with most setting on normal or high

also, even when on the lowest quality i still get the same split second of lag here and there. it happens on average of twice per song.

          Re: random lag?

          That was said wrong.

Subscribing does not necessarily remove lag. It does lighten the display load, but that's all.

Lag is only controllable to a certain degree on any individual computer, and the problem cannot be solved from the administration. Lag usually happens in the displaying of the flash/audio on your monitor/speakers, and not the transmission of information through the internet.

Lowering the volume and shrinking the flash window using javascript/using low resolution may reduce lag. Make sure you play on low quality graphics (hit the q button on the top left corner 3 times), without any external programs occupying your computer.

@Gibson, don't trash FFR like that.

Your connection would have nothing to do with it; the entire song and chart is loaded before it's allowed to begin.
What OS are you running? Video card? Memory? Browser? Have you tried increasing the priority of your browser process? Did you try setting the quality of FFR and all flash ads to low?

My issue with lag is a bit weird, actually; I get no lag, except for a split second burst of lag which I always get something like 5 plus or minus a bit seconds into the chart, so almost always in the same spot of the song. Some of the time it'll make me get a good but usually I'm okay, and if I get past that spot I'm golden.

EDIT: Oh, and I use: Firefox on normal priority, windows XP, low quality for the game itself, adblock, no subbies...

Also the BETA lags worse than the public version, even without ads.
                :\

The new masking thing causes huge amounts of lag, just like full masking in multiplayer.

                  Internet speed is nothing.
Post your computer specs, if they aren't that good, that's the reason for your lag.

Masking reduces my lag. The monitor has less to display. All of my lag correlates with the amount of information my monitor has to deal with. If the opponent misses, I lag. etc.

I dunno. I multiplayer masking arrows only works great, but a full mask totally rapes me.

As for BETA masking either of the two causes me LOADS of lag, which isn't enjoyable.
