whenever I hit the combination < and ^ it only accepts one of them. I think it might be an issues with my keyboard, but I'm not sure. Any Suggestions?

yeah try in game re-mapping or check again on a different song, because the arrows could be messed up or you could be not hitting them at the same time, idk.

for re-mapping go to the game screen, and hit the settings button in the top right,

then you'll see the boxes and click one and hit a key to your liking and repeat for the rest of the keys, then try a new song using the new keys

Re-map to something like [s-d-k-l]. You'll be a much better player by the end of it.

That's a serious case of keyboard issues. Buy a new keyboard.
