Did FFR give me a? no, it didn't

Heres the situation: My other computer has just gotten the "Vundo" virus/trojan that has been sucessfully removed by McAfee before execution. By reading this Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vundo_trojan I noticed that it was caused by "a vulnerability in Sun Java 1.4 and earlier versions." Coincidentally, I noticed Sun Java running in the bottom right hand corner of my screen next to the time. When McAfee blocked this trojan, my FFR window closed out immediately. I was viewing my profile watching my video playbacks. Is Java supposed to start when on an FFR profile? The other things I were on included only my Yahoo Mail and my Myspace profile. But FFR was the one that was closed out automatically when McAfee told me that it detected, cleaned, and removed the Vundo trojan, while the other windows stayed up. Just thought I'd throw that out there and maybe see if anyone could comment on that and why I had Java running when I doubt that it starts on FFR profiles, Yahoo Mail, or Myspace.

FFR uses flash. I don't think it has anything to do with Java.

You could try turning off Java for a little bit, browse through the site and see if anything doesn't appear that normally does.

Or just block all ads. FireFox helps with that.

The profile chat? Does that run on Java?

everything runs in flash. whatever caused this... wasn't FFR. if it was, we'd have gotten other reports. not to mention, i don't see how it's possible.

              flash. not java.

Re: Did FFR give me a virus?

This actually happened to me on my other computer. My antivirus didn't fix the problem, so I had to get another computer because I couldn't think of anything else to do.THat sucked because StepMania was on my old computer, and I'm too lazy to download over 1500 files again. I knew it wasn't FFR, but that was when I first noticed the virus.
My real birthdate is November 6, 1995 but I'm keeping it as '92 for nostalgic reasons. Lol.

                  This dosent sound good...
FFR dosent use Java, and neither does myspace.
Not sure about Yahoo mail though. Try scanning with diffrent virus removal tools.

This has happened before, but not enough times to be FFR.

well, the playback thing and runescape did the same thing to my comp it closed the window and made a short-cut to a long code thing. i updated my java and they both worked again.

                        Try this:

                        1. Download firefox if you don't have it and get the Noscript extension. (http://noscript.net/)
Noscript will let you block scripts from running, by type. Like Flash, Java, PHP, etc...
                        You can experiment with those.

                        2. Download AVG Free (400x better than mcafee or norton) from here:

Download free antivirus and malware protection. Tune up your PC, Mac, & Android. Encrypt your connection and browse anonymously with a VPN.

And install. Then install any updates it asks you to install, if any.

Then do a complete system scan. Believe me, it will get rid of a virus if you have one.
