I think there should either be a check box or something to remove the gaming region (like there is to remove other things such as profile chat, comments, friend requests, etc.), or a list in the dropbox that selects none of them (either hides it, or says something like "Nada" or "Undisclosed").
It really doesn't make sense if you're somebody who doesn't fill out your location on your profile (country / state / city). I don't fill mine out because I just don't want that information for everybody to see, so I don't have a location. But, gaming region defaults to USA - New England, so it's very misleading to everybody viewing a profile with no location.
EDIT: Arrrggghhh, this belongs in the profiles section, sorry. My brain automatically went to "suggestions" seeing how this is a suggestion.
