If you want some new songs, there's a portal for Royality-free Audio. It 's called the Newgrounds Audio Portal. This will probably ring a bell with some people, but it's really worth looking there sometime. You just have to PM the author of the song you found for it. still need individual artist permissions.... but we have permission from 10 or 15 artists who use Newsgrounds as their main source of audio distribution. there is a thread sticky'd in ffr general that shows who we have permission from. the big list is on page 11 (of 40 per page)

so why dont you guys just send e- letters out en masse to major bands and hope one of them accepts?

Because we only want good music. Not every band creates it.

just about any major band would have to go through their record label for permission. and just about any record label will say no (i know because a professor i had was an executive of UMG, the largest record label in the US).

so we have to stick mostly to unsigned artists, or artists signed by indie labels. we get plenty of permissions... they just aren't from major artists.
