    FFR Points?

I had this idea while I was sleeping last night. How about FFR Points that you can redeem for a week-long subscription? You could possibly get FFR Points from events, and/or contributing music/stepfiles for FFR. You could probably need 10 FFR Points for a week-long subscription. And there could be longer subscriptions for more FFR Points. Say you have 50 FFR Points. You could redeem those for a month-long subscription, and if you have 100 FFR Points, you could redeem those for a year-long subscription.

FFR Points could also be used to get special stuff like custom titles, colored names, special access to a forum, etc.

    Re: FFR Points?

Hate to double post, but I would like to explain the bad points of FFR Points. I know what could possibly happen. I'm pretty sure there are those who would go ga-ga over FFR Points, and submit music/stepfiles like crazy to get them. I also know people could STEAL stepfiles, and claim them as their own. People could possibly also lie and say that so-and-so is submitting a stolen stepfile.

Of course, I don't think FFR Points could get TOO abused, since stepfiles DO have to actually be GOOD, ON SYNC, and ACTUALLY PLAYABLE to be accepted and used, and people would need an artist's/record station's permission to have a certain song used. Of course, that doesn't mean that people can't get music from an artist that has given blanket permissions, but still, a GOOD, ON SYNC, ACTUALLY PLAYABLE stepfile would still have to be submitted.

What am I saying? Well, i'm saying that mainly experienced stepfile makers could get FFR Points from contributing. And this could encourage determination in others to make awesome stepfiles.

Basically, I know the bad points of the FFR Points. If this is done, what I have explained could, and may actually, happen. Of course, i'm pretty sure that people would think that submitting simfiles to the FFR Simfile Database would sound like contributing, but submitting simfiles to the FFR Simfile Database would NOT count as contributing, since you're basically just submitting a simfile for StepMania, not FFR. But still, some points could still count, since people could download simfiles from the FFR Simfile Database, take the stepfile/music, and try and submit it to FFR. Seriously, I know what could happen.

Synthlight/FFR Staff, please, look at this, look at the good and bad, and discuss your thoughts on the subject.

Though I disagree with the subscription part (because this site is in dire need of any financial support it can get), having "tokens" or some kind of forum currency (see bemanistyle forums) would be nice.

That's what I'm kinda discussing. Just something that you can swap for "special" stuff for those who deserve the rewards for their hard work on contributing and stuff. But look at my second post also. That explains what COULD possibly happen if FFR Points are done.

          Re: FFR Points?

people who contribute their music/steps to the game automatically get access to songs early... so that is kinda like a subscription, but not all the way.

What your saying would take away the benefits from the new subscribers (p2p if you would.) Even though most subscribers pay just to simply benefit the forums, it's nice to have something that others cannot have (new songs, special forums, ect) with your suggestion it would give that benefit to everyone for free

except that the point of subscribing is to give money not to be a mod-like dude
so that renders your entire idea irrelevant
you just wanted to be a subscriber without actually doing so...

No I didn't. I just thought this would be a nice thing to do. But yeah, I knew the bad points of the whole situation, so I kinda felt this wouldn't be that good of a suggestion.

Something's definately wrong with this. Paying 50 for one month when you can pay 40 for four weeks, and then 100 gets a whole year?

                      Re: FFR Points?

It was a THOUGHT. Plus, I don't think FFR Points would work well with getting free subscriptions. I'm pretty sure that FFR Points can just be used for being able to get custom titles/special graphics/etc., things like that.
