Stop placing songs randomly in a genre.

"New song up guys. It's in 3rd page, 4th row, 2nd from left of Dance section. We put it there for absolutely no reason at all. Oh and we mixed up the other songs too lolz."

ALPHABETIZE THEM ... UGH Why must it be a f'ing treasure hunt to find songs? I basically stopped bothering with FFR for the most part because it's so annoying to have to hunt for the song I want to play, new and old. The once a week I open FFR, it's different everytime.

New song? Uhh, where is it? Oh it's placed randomly in with the other songs...

How about alphabetize the songs, with the past few new songs of the weeks up top. Leave them there for a few weeks before pushing them back into the genre in alphabetical order. Is that so hard? Probably not considering songs are just thrown anywhere in a genre as it is.

Songs are sorted by difficulty to be more newb-friendly. We don't sort them randomly.

There are plenty of exceptions to this in the various genres, and they all have reasons behind them.

Okay... So let me get this straight... You think it's organized now? Tossing new songs into the middle?

For me to even play the new songs I have to dig for them (big reason why I don't play FFR, as well as my stupid 60 hz monitor raping my eyes within first minute of playing).

First page of Dance.. Okay it goes from easiest to hardest. Second page of dance has easier songs than first page on there. Say 2 to 8 difficulty on page 1 and 2 to 7 difficulty on page 2. Umm.. Why are 2s even on the 2nd page and why are 8s on the first. Why is Classical backwards in difficulty?

Again, I stick to my initial point... It's not organized worth a crap. Don't get me wrong, you guys are doing an excellent job with all the work you're doing with FFR and I think it's wonderful. This is my only gripe.

I think alphabetical would be better than it currently is, considering I still haven't even found all of the new songs that were released for the 12 days of FFRmas while I didn't have power. I could find them all if I wanted, but it would take me a while.

I also promote alphabtized FFR songs. The reason why the ratings are there is to tell you how diffucult a song is. (They're screwed up though, will they be fixed come 3rd style?)

It's known that they're screwed up, that's what Jimerax's huge sticky about actually difficulties is about, and I hope his difficulties are used in 3rd style.

It's not too hard of an organization system to grasp. For dance:
-most popular are the first 9 songs
-new songs are bottom row of page 1 and 2
-everything else is ranked in order of difficulty
-ending is offbeat songs
For classical:
-reverse difficulty order
For secret:
-credit order
Everything else:
-most popular at the top
-then order of difficulty
-offbeat songs at the end

And then purchased is random, but it's one page so whatever.

The ordering of the songs is 100% intended to be newb-friendly. Song names don't mean jack to newbies, who would have to spend ages rummaging around looking for decent songs for their level if the songs were sorted alphabetically.

Zero consideration is taken for experienced players when it comes to the order, because quite frankly, we think you've been around long enough to find whatever song you're looking for fairly quickly anyway.

We've put plenty of thought into this, and it's staying the way it is until 3rd style.

Still, you should alphabetize the songs, newbs can look through all they want. The people who play the most and the longest should be able to choose some kinds of things in ffr, dont just think of the new people. They arent the only people on FFR.

New people probably make up 95% of FFR's games played per day though, so I guess it should stay this way.

exactly Doug. we have over 1 million registered users. and over 1000 new users per day. MAYBE... 10? of those 1000 come to the forums. That is 1%. The other 99% don't come to the forums, and therefore have no clue the actual difficulties of songs.

one of my next projects is going to be fixing the ingame difficulty rating for songs to make them correct. possibly next weekend when i have a few hours of free time.

I was going to ask Synth first, though, since when I first asked him he basically said not to do it.
