Maximum character limit

Why is the maximum character limit so high? I've never seen a good post on this site with a number of characters anywhere near what I've seen in this thread: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...ad.php?t=53765 which is obvious spam. Actually, this garbage topic of the Blue Blur should be deleted after the DotY contest ends, because it's a huge pointless waste of forum space, but we need it for now, to help get kashimazu blur more votes.
