    Practise mode

The only reason I play FFR is for the songs, I like alot of them and i thought it would be nice if there was a pratise mode where players could play through the song without worrying about loosing because it would be impossible for them to loose and therefore ending the song. They would'nt be able to get a score for this though as it is practise mode but I do think that it would be nice just to have a go at a song and listen to it without worrying about loosing and ending the experience. Please leave constructive feedback and no " Flaming " . Thank you for your time.

Yeah, we've been discussing that briefly. I think it may come out as something in third style though. Synth should get a say in this. When someone mentioned having just a "practice mode" as just teaching you all the different techniques and getting you started when you first begin to play, I thought that was a good idea and I think that one will more likely become in play. I don't think you really need to listen to the whole song. After you master the keys, you can atleast finish every song. Just takes practice.
That's cool Mario, but how come whenever you eat mushrooms, everything gets bigger but your dick?

I also focus mainly on the arrows, but I do like to enjoy the song I'm hearing. Sometimes I can't hear all of it though because I can't play well enough to pass it. It might be nice to have a mode where you can listen to songs in the game without worrying about trying to pass them. I'm thinking more of a demo mode where you just watch rather than a practice mode where you play for no score though. A nice idea for people who enjoy listening to the music.

Essentially retired now, but still ranked on the list of FFR's Top One Handers.

I liked hearing the full songs as I started being able to pass the songs. It was motivation for me.

You can't fail in spinitup, so any song that you want to hear there you could just play there and not do anything, but you wouldn't get any practice on the song in FFR. Also, with enough practice, you should be able to get to where you almost never fail a song.

DDR and Stepmania have a feature where you can go to the options and make failure not instantaneous. When you fail, the song keeps going, but your score doesn't increase or anything, and at the end you get presented with "FAILURE".

I pay more attention to the music, I can't really hit offbeat arrows all that well anymore.

Thus I play Stepmania, but only rarely. I find myself just opening the SM folder and listening to the music instead.

In the interests of not starting a new thread, even though this old thread had its request phrased in a rather clunky and awkward way...(punctuation is your friend)

Was any decision ever made about this option? Playing any game like this, but especially games like DDR, one of the best ways to learn a song is to just be able to play all the way through, no matter how badly you mess up.

A selectable mode where you play the song through, but cannot fail, and gain no credits or even possibly don't have it count as being played at all, would really be a boon to players looking to get better at songs.

If you really only play to listen, go search the song up.

                      http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/levelstats.php

                      Choose it and listen.

Er...the post above mine about playing to listen is several months old, I only posted in this thread instead of making a new one because I prefer to post in old threads rather than make new ones...

Ya, well, it was so old, you couldn't go to game level stats to listen to songs back when it was made...lol. Now that I have Vertex Beta vrofl, I have more interest in a practice mode than before, but still don't think it's nearly as important as speed mods or anything like that.

I agree. I woud rather a speed mod than a practice mode.

P.S. Devonin, good bump. One of the few bumps like that i've seen that are useful.

Fair enough, in that large-scale functionality is better than small-scale functionality, but correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems almost like a practice mode would be a lot easier to set up compared to actually setting up speed-mod functionality.

You hit a toggle, the new mode is identical to the old mode except that the effect on your lifebar is '0' for all types of score, and you get 0 credits no matter how you do...
