    Multiplayer Rating

There's a problem with the multiplayer rating that would be nice if it were different.

When on a different computer than normal, my rating is different. Upstairs it's 14, but down here it's 1...

If you guys based it on the account, not the computer, that would be really cool, and solve the problem of people leaving when I join a "good people only" game with a level of 1...

also, what's the rating out of? like what's the highest u can have?

    RE: Multiplayer Rating

It's how many games you've won.

      Both wrong!

There was an error earlier which made your rank 14, we have fixed that.

Your level is not how many games you've won, but rather your expirience points. I'm sure we will be putting what you need to level up somewhere in the future.

        RE: Multiplayer Rating

There will be an official thread or FAQ or whatever for the Multiplayer level system but here are the basics

It is entirely based upon MP Experience points and the level of the person you play against. A level(1) player playing against another level(1) player will gain approximately X amount of points and the loser of the match loses Y amount of points. X and Y can vary greatly depending on the level of who is playing.

        Lets take an example

        (1)Synthlight
        vs.
        (3)Aperson

Synthlight is only a level 1 playing Aperson who is a level 3.
Lets say that Synthlight wins. (hey! it's imaginary, I can do what I want)

First we look at difference between our levels. The difference is 2.
Normally for a win I would get 100 points + 10 points because of my low ranking. (110 points)
But because of the level difference of 2 I get 120 points. (120 points total)
level 2 = experience points total of between 100 and 199.
level 12 for example = experience points total of between 3500 and 3999.
So a single win puts me at level 2.

Now for Aperson's loss.. He is a level 3
        The level difference is 2
the loss would normally cost him 100 but there are a few factors at play
Because of the 2 level difference, he loses 120
Because he is still in the "noob" level classification he also gets special treatment
Level 3 gets only 20% of the total taken away which would = 24 points of loss.
The % taken away goes up quickly as the level of the player goes up.

        Synthlight wins experience: 120 YAY!
        Aperson Loses experience: 24 YAY!

By the time you get up past level 10, the penalty for losing is pretty heavy. This helps people level up quickly but then really have to work in order to rise up to level 15+

There obviously is more to it but that is beyond my attention span right now. There are a variety of systems that work like this. Think Halo2 or other similiar matchmaking systems.

        Cheers,

        Synthlight
