i think it would be a great idea to have a split screen multiplayer 1 vs 1 battle screen like in DDR. Hope thats in the works!

In fact, it is. A large stepping stone in it appears to have been crossed in the creation of the new FF chat (it's in flash). However, this might be an impossibility. In any case, the admins are surely working on some form or 2 player or multiplyer version, possibly for R2.
It doesn't hurt to check the forums.
