ok, so i play on DSL, and about 3 times per song, the arrows stop for like 1 second, and i miss them. this is pretty annoying, especially considering this happened right wen i was about to get a perfect score on the Mario song ! is there anything i can do to fix this prob?

Turn down the quality if you haven't already. FFR's performance has little or nothing to do with your connection speed. It's more to do with your computer.

I have a CRAP FOR CRAP video card so I need to turn the quality down to get any performance at all. It's still a bit slow, but it's all right. Playable.

Also, close all extra processes, they can slow it down a bit sometimes.
