I'm positive i'm not the only one dealing with this issue, however i haven't stumbled across any solutions for this lag. Basically it's as if i'm in safe mode using "Arrow slow-down" but i'm not, i can't even play in the velocity engine as it stands, and this is the engine i'm most use to. I can't adapt within 6 hours for round 3 of the 8th official tournament, is this a server sided bug, or could this possibly be on my end? Any suggestions would be appreciated~

Re: Velocity engine lag issue.
I've read from other people that because of increased traffic for the tourney the engine is getting more overloaded than usual (?_? not sure if true) so I don't really think its much on your end... try using Flash 9 instead of 10/11 as it's been said to reduce lag for some. Adjusting quality settings as always could work too.RIP Steve Van Ness <3 -
Re: Velocity engine lag issue.
not true. ive said this before, that no matter how many people are playing ffr at one time, it will not cause ingame lag. the engine preloads the entire engine, and song prior to playing. if there were a ton of people trying to play, say 6000 people online playing at once, it would just make loading the songs take longer.
the problem is likely due to the tournament dashboard, since this exact same issue occurred during the last official. i could be wrong, but i dont see any other explanation.
my 2cents~

Re: Velocity engine lag issue.
honestly, my only fix that has seemed to help monumentally (i mean occasional lag spikes to large bouts of lag --> absolutely no lag in any engine, standalone or not, even in mp) is to run the game on a linux machine. i installed lubuntu dualbooted alongside my win7, and ffr runs like a boss on lubuntu.Comment

Re: Velocity engine lag issue.
If you cant fix the lag with velo, try this: Go into R^2, change the arrow receptor spacing from 80 -> 70. Enable Show Screencut and go into Editor mode: Change the screen cut to something like this: http://i.imgur.com/ZFjtngc.jpg. Disable "Show 'Amazing' Accuracy, and use Metal Noteskin. You'll have to mess around with Speed Mods to find whatever you're comfortable with but this should be ok.
Make sure you're using regular FP9 and this should play similar to velo.

Get Kancho'd

Re: Velocity engine lag issue.
Have you tried FFRAnotherWay on Flash 8 yet? That seems to work for me.

I totally forgot that I had Ubuntu 10.04 on the laptop that I'm using -- I might try and get the internet connection up and running on that again so that I can play FFR a bit more smoothly, haha.
As far as any other solutions, I can't quite see one in sight... this lag issue came up in the last tournament and randomly disappeared.Comment

Re: Velocity engine lag issue.
lag in Velocity
no lag in R^2 or R^3
is the impression I'm getting. what's the concensus on Legacy? I switched from Velo to Legacy for a couple rounds in the 7th Official.
edit: assuming Windows. you could try dual-booting a Linux distro if you wanna try that and still keep your stuff

Re: Velocity engine lag issue.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys, i appreciate it! have helped me out a great deal, if this thread needs to be closed due to spam, go ahead. Theirs really no use for it anymore FOR ME, however it may come in handy for other people dealing with the same issues. Thanks again!~Originally posted by CallipygianThere's always some issue you can find with the exact terminology of a game.
