I guess to me it throws off the balance that the show had. It just doesn't feel "right" and feels forced. If it was the final episode ever it might be okay but there's going to be a season 4 I heard?
But yeah before you had
2 Earth, 2 Pegasus, 2 Unicorn
Now it isn't balanced anymore with
2 Earth, 2 Pegasus, 1 Unicorn, 1 Alicorn
Twilight Sparkle was pretty overpowered as a unicorn anyway, but that was kind of her "thing" so it worked .. but giving her even more power? Plus I don't really see her in an administrative role, which seems to be what the alicorns do.
And why does she even need wings? She already had teleporting ability.
