    Delayed key inputs

    Alright, this is kinda annoying

Started playing today and noticed that I was receiving tons of late goods randomly when I rightfully shouldn't have been, leading me to believe that some of my inputs were being delayed ever so slightly. I was playing on both engines and neither seemed to be lagging at all. Decided to change my key setup a few times but that didn't appear to solve anything.

Wat do? I really don't hope I have to replace my keyboard so if anyone has any ideas for something I could try, it'd be much appreciated.

            Re: Delayed key inputs

Either try out with another keyboard or just change the offset. PS/2 keyboards might have a bit of delay, if that's the type of keyboard you have, because I have the same issue with mine.

              Re: Delayed key inputs

I'm using a USB keyboard, and I don't think using an offset will accomplish anything as it just seems to be happening randomly (not all my keystrokes are delayed)

Playing on Dossar's engine, everything seems to be fine, so I don't think it's a problem with my keyboard anymore.

              lol this is weird

edit: I seem to be getting one screwy good every 150-200 notes or so on songs that I can consistently AAA

Maybe velo's derping around with the engine right now or something if the same thing's happening with Maggie? (Doubtful but eh)

                Re: Delayed key inputs

bump because now I've come to the conclusion that only FFR is lagging

I've been playing on a standalone recently (eliminating any potential browser problems) and I'm only receiving lag from http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...y/ffr_Wide.swf (DF, Dossar's engine, and Haku's isolation are all running lag free)

...now I seriously have no fucking idea what to do

I restarted my computer, got 6 AAAs, and suddenly the delay is back. So idk what it is. Then again I've always had problems with lag on FFR lol.

                    Re: Delayed key inputs

I'm not sure why many of you guys think otherwise, but PS/2 is actually better than USB for keyboards. You basically lose nothing by using PS/2 compared to USB, and, on the other hand, USB has some downsides.

USB is polled, and it can be delayed by the USB bus being used by other devices. I don't think this is the reason you are experiencing problems though.

This is exactly what's been happening to me also. I've only noticed it on jumps though, and only one of the arrows in the jumps is a delayed good (I've confirmed this several times and I indeed pressed both keys at the same time). I use a PS/2 keyboard, and only play in firefox.

I agree with this, I play better on a keyboard that uses the old socket. For some reason they don't have as much delay.

                          Also, Gamebooster anyone?
                          Try Flashplayer 9?

Erm.. idk what else to suggest, I had lag at one point but I started using FP9 and Gamebooster instead of FP10

                            Re: Delayed key inputs

I'm convinced it's the keyboard now, even though the one I was using yesterday was a PS/2. And today all of a sudden more delayed goods started showing up. I tried mapping it to different keys, still the same issue.

I dug up an old keyboard (also PS/2), and it's really old. Surprisingly, there were absolutely no delayed goods. So anyone who has this issue, I suggest buying a new keyboard (or at least trying any different keyboard first to make sure that's the issue). I've only tested it on PS/2 keyboards, so I can't say anything for USB.

                            Edit:
Then again it could just be lag and coincidence... or hopefully it's because this keyboard is really old. I just got some delayed goods again...

                            Edit2:
I should have obviously tested this before. I plugged back in my original keyboard, and now there's no delayed goods (after playing 3 songs with lots of jumps). I'll keep playing for today and tomorrow to make sure, in case it's just lag that's coincidentally gone right now.
