Playing FFR is like Riding a Bicycle

You never forget once you know how to do it

I've realized after taking a long break and coming back into FFR, after like 10 minutes of playing again your brain and body begin to pick up where you left off, skill-wise and you can start to get right back into FFR.

I'm imagining it would be like this for most rhythm games...

    Anyways:
Do you think rhythm games are like riding a bicycle? (the basic muscle memory of it stays with you forever?)

Have you ever taken a long break from FFR and come back to it? What was it like?

Yeah, I didn't play really any rhythm games during the down time and when I came back it only took me a little while to remember how to play.

Tch! The break from when the site went down to back up I lost a ton of skill. Probably because I didn't play StepMania in between but oh well. No more 10 AAAs for me until I start to care again.

I mean I didn't forget how to play, but my accuracy was down so mehhh.

I lost a considerable amount of skill while not playing. My speed and endurance took the biggest hits. Imbstill building them back up

Also if I were ride a bike now there's no way I'd be able to do what I was doing a couple years ago in 10 minutes rofl

My return to FFR made me realize, that it is like riding a bicycle, I suck just as much I did then as I do now.

              This.
Also, if I went back to playing Guitar Hero/Rock Band right now, I would suck pretty badly. I used to be really good, but after a long time of not playing, your fingers just aren't as fast and get tired/cramp a lot quicker.

Haha, I was good enough at Guitar Hero at one point to 5 star Through the Fire and the Flames. I tried to play a few weeks ago and could barely even pass an expert song. I had trouble even reading the notes.

I joined FFR in November, AAA'd a VC, SDG'd some FMO's and Blackflagged a few of them. Barely even FC'd the FGO's. Quit rhythm gaming for an entire month, came back back and AAA'd 4 FMO's on the first day, got ONI, SDG'd 5 FGO's and AAA'd 50 VC's.

I actually got a skill-boost from quitting, should I do it again ?_? lmfao

I think this is alot like working out. if you don't allow muscles to rest after working up, they don't get built up.

basically, short breaks could potentially give you boosts, but usually over-extended breaks will make you drop skill.

I quit ffr for the life of vibration
and found out I vibrate faster than 99% of FFR. Do I win

                        Totally agreed.

Although I think FFR is more like playing piano.

When you first start playing, you wonder how people play very technical/difficult pieces. Then after a while, you learn how to sightread the notes after a bit practice, just like FFR. Then, muscle memory comes in play and you start playing pieces by just merely looking at the piano keyboard. If you make a very minor mistake, you go back to the beginning and replay the entire piece just so you can perfect it (Deja Vu!).

I took a 3 year break from FFR. Literally didn't play a single song. When I came back I picked right up where I left off and even AAA'd some stuff I couldn't do in the past.

In those 3 years I might have played stepmania for 10 hours total

For some reason when I take a decent break (from just about anything, including FFR), when I return it takes a while to get used to but somehow I'm usually noticeably BETTER than I was before.
