Ok, I've been having a sort of semi issue that I strongly believe is partly a function of the type of keyboard you have, as well as your finger positioning.
I've been quite prone to misses on certain patterns, and moreso when these patterns are played at higher speeds or prolonged lengths.
I play on my laptop, which has a flat keyboard; nevertheless, I've gotten used to playing on it.
The patterns that I now suffer from are mainly [12][34][12][34] jumps on 16th values (or [34][12][34][12]). Also, rolls where I jumptrill, such as 12341234 or 432143214321 have the same effect.
What happens is that I get random misses, most notably on the up arrow [3]. My key setup is askl right now, and I play with my index and middle fingers. I suspect that somehow my positioning puts an ever-so-slightly less pressure on k/3/up arrow than, say, the l/4/right arrow. It's hard to notice, and when I do these patterns, it can happen anytime (it's not that I have trouble executing these patterns, I just miss randomly). Chances of missing slightly decrease if I put some sort of conscious effort to exert a bit more pressure on my right hand. Strangely enough, misses also decrease if I revert to my old fingering setup, with a middle finger on the k/3/up arrow and a ring finger on the l/4/right arrow; from this, I suspect it has to be due to a pressure difference - guessing I exert more pressure with the middle finger than the index finger.
Songs I suffer from the most are heavy in [12][34] patterns (esp. fast ones) and rolls. E.g. Otaku Speedvibe [oni], Master Maid, Skeletor, etc. These songs are now a lot harder than they should be.
Does anyone else have or have had this issue (or a similar one) before? And is there any way to ameliorate it?
