Wow it's been over a year since I've seen this site up and running.Why was it gone to begin with? Glad to be back on here again but I wanna know exactly what happened this whole time. And to anyone else, welcome back to FFR

I can't remember... But I believe it was in October it went up.. Maybe it was early November idk.. I just started playing this week again!

Welcome back to FFR!

The site returned on October 9th, 2010. The site has also experienced a series of small down times for updates from then to now, so you may have been unlucky enough to check FFR on one of those days.

What happened? Well, I'm fairly sure that there was a few hard drive failures and errors, as well as a huge copyright thing going down at the same time. With that, Synth decided to close shop on December 21st 2009 till a few months ago. Not sure if that's the whole story, but I'm think that's why.

There were copyright issues about the simfile database, so as you can see it is not there anymore.

That's why the simfile database is gone, but not why the site was down.

We can just leave it at "There were reasons, they've been resolved" There are more than enough places where the official reasons are stated if you really want to know. Take you 2 minutes of searching.

Well, I'm not exactly sure what it was all about, but the copyright issue could have been on the Stepmania file database, considering that was about 65,000 infringes of copyright right there (which is why it's not going up again basically). Maybe someone checking permissions on all of the songs in FFR...not sure. Could search it up like devonin said if you want all the details.

Well, before the crash there was probably 20,000 active users in all...maybe. Currently there is much less than that, the site has been down for a while and people have probably decided to whore something else if they didn't play StepMania over the crash. Word just hasn't gotten out far enough yet that it has returned.

In the last week before the downtime, we were getting about 1500 unique users a day. This week we've been getting about 1300 unique users a day.

Sure itīs great to see that ffr has returned, but the simfile database is gone, which is unforgivable.

I'd rather have the site back with the simdb gone than have the whole site taken down because of the blatant copyright issues.

In the last week before the downtime, we were getting about 1500 unique users a day. This week we've been getting about 1300 unique users a day.

I'd like to clarify that this is logged in users. We get a significantly larger amount of unique hits a day.

I don't know if the admins know yet but the simfile database is still accessible by going to your profile, going to the "my settings" tab, clicking "signature editor", and clicking the simfile database icon on the left side.
