Mechanical Keyboard?

So I'm looking at keyboards and I can't remember what a mechanical keyboard feels like. Would it make me suddenly suck at FFR? Does anyone else use a mechanical keyboard? The idea of it sounds nice, but the "clicky" sound they talk about sounds like it would either be annoying or stop you from pressing buttons as fast. Also the part about actuation being half way down instead of all the way down makes it seem like I would have to relearn the timing for everything in this game.
