    Consider the keyboard!

May you all learn from my mistake: If you must get a new, unfamiliar keyboard, make sure it's FFR-worthy!

My good wireless one gave out, so I got a new wireless one, however, there's a serious problem witht he sending rate (if I hold down a key, the repeat rate is MUCH slower than what the computer can handle), so when I try to play songs on FFR that have simultaneous arrows, one keystroke is quite delayed, and it causes me to miss many arrows. I can't even get a decent combo going on Stalled Out, let alone even complete Silence. I growl at my keyboard.

I don't know what specs you might need to look for, but please keep this in mind!

Yeah, buying a good keyboard is key. My friend has this awesome Logitech wireless that I want, but the keys are shaped wierd and have concave buttons, and it's laggy as hell. I can barely play on it. You can't go wrong with a standard $20 Microsoft keyboard- supports triples and quads and has nice turned up corners for your fingers to grip. However, I have a Compaq keyboard...now at first, I thought it was really bad for FFR. The keys are totally smooth, and they're barely turned at the corners. I found out that not only does it support triples and quads, the smooth keys let your fingers slide off them in a speed I could never manage before. I'm faster than ever now. It was worth the time it took to get good at it.

All wireless keyboards have lag in them... they are NO good for the timings needed in FFR, SM, or similar types of games.

bandit, I'm sure all wireless keyboards have lag in them as you say, but there are definitely many that work. The first wireless I had worked perfectly, and a temporary one I used worked great save only for the FF7 song, and now this one totally sucks. Don't rule out wireless keyboards completely, but you can easily go wrong with them.

wireless anything sucks for anything that involves the word "game", ok? maybe your keyboard was ok for ffr, but i guarantee you it wasn't as good as a normal keyboard is

You know, it is a hard feeling to get used to, especially if you are a key slammer, but the Mircosoft Natural actually has a very small latency and also the pressing distance is fairly small.

It is worth a try, but it can be a fairly costly risk.

The best keyboard you can buy is the Logitech Corded Elite for $39.99.
