Why do people play on Reverse??

I've been playing DDR for about 9 years now, and I can play on reverse fine...but why do people start out playing reverse?
It just seems confusing.

There are a bunch of games whose default is to scroll down rather than up.

Up doesn't make sense for FFR's case, IMO.

I'm so bad at up, whenever I played MP with bmah, I force my monitor view to go upside-down.

basically every rhythm game except ddr/ffr/itg/piu is downscroll by default
