i don't like it much, but it doesn't look like nonsense to me.

thank you for that utterly useless and uniformative post, talisman...
popular as in it's been remixed by DJ Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, DJ Skribble and many other mainstream DJ's. (Check out the track listing for the 2nd disc of Perfecto Presents Another World by Oakenfold if you want proof)
I don't know how the credit/copyright stuff is handled with remixes... do you credit the remixer? the original artist? both? And who do you have to get rights from in order to use the song? I just wanted to make sure Synth knew this.
btw... the original artist is listed as Delierium (featuring Sarah McLachan)
and FYI, the original and the Oakenfold mixes are awesome, so that's why it's popular... I'm not so sure about FFR's mix because frankly I can't survive long enough to hear the song, and even then I can't concentrate on the song itself.Comment

pretty sure remixes are fair game, as long as you have permission from the person who did the remix. It's up to the mixer to get permission to use the original song, wouldn't you think?Reach: there was this bee. i hate bee\'s...i tryed to kill it, but then it didn\'t die and it started making weird noises so i was like oh (#$% hes gonna sting me. i started running but i triped over some rock and rolled down a hill into the river.Comment

my curiousity got the better of me and I actually went to the RIAA website to get information on it (ugh... feel like I need to take a shower now... with steel wool and bleach).
Straight from their guide on how to protect your music: "Your creative work is protected by copyright as soon as it is created and "fixed" in a tangible form such as film, a sound recording, etc."
So by this, I guess you're right, altairian... the copyright belongs to the remixer. But that really doesn't seem right, even with classical music if an adaptation or arrangement is made of a piece, the original credit is still given to the composer first, then arranger. I dunno, it seems like we're in the clear, but only by asking a lawyer could we be absolutely certian.
This is also an issue to consider for a few other songs on the site... SGX's 4F73R M3 and NeoMAX for example. They're both adaptations of licensed songs.Comment
