Had to for Rondo v1, it's so offsync playing it with sound makes it harder for me lol.
Playing with no sound doesn't really effect my playing at all aside from getting the speed/beat of the song down off the first few arrows, which isn't really even a problem.
I can't stand playing without sound, makes it too quiet and I get into the song's beat to do better >_>
I don't think it would change my PA though, I don't go by the music to hit arrows, just by sight and knowing what speed to hit the keys depending on the note.
Playing FFR/Lurking around the forums since Dec. 2004
Nosound helps a hell of a lot because ffr naturally has the perfect window skewed to be early. If you play with the sound off this lets you adjust to the center of the perfect window without the music telling you you're off
If I'm having trouble with a song, I'll turn the sound off and learn the actual file then go back and play the song with sound. I tend to do better on it after that.
