    Re: Hmmph

I use 2.0x but that is just me. There is a curve to the best speed mod for people. For me, if I increase it to 2.25x; my PA is worse. If I decrease it to 1.75x; it makes some patterns harder to read. So overall, my peak performance is at 2.0x. This is how you should figure yours out. Just try different speeds for 1 week each and see what is best for you. Observe the scores you get and how much you improve or in some cases get worse and make a decision. I hope this helps.

You should use the highest speed mod that you can read. Different people top out at different levels and it also depends on your monitor, so you have to find the speed mod that's right for you.

up your speed mod to avoid overlapping arrows in all patterns except jacks (for obvious reasons) other than that they key is consistency in your speed mod more than anything else

I had always wondered about this.. It makes a lot of sense; if Cmods determined how much time it took for an arrow to get from the bottom of the playing screen to the top (or whatever I don't give love to Down players), then the larger your monitor is, the faster the arrows would move. It's still the same amount of time, but this could possibly be debilitating if the playing screen is larger than the area your eyes can focus on. Possibly changing your resolution or (in firefox) changing the size of the page using Ctrl++ and Ctrl+- would help to fit the game into the optimal size. I kind of doubt that refresh rate affects anything, as no matter which way you slice it, it's still a 30FPS game, so so long as your monitor refreshes faster than that, you're golden. And yeah color depth probably doesn't change much considering arrows come in like 9 colors..

Uh yeah but anyway 2x ftw.. Until I become a subscriber, haha.

                  Re: Hmmph

Really, let's put it this way: faster is always better. The "recommended" speed is the fastest you can play well at ("playing well" being hitting perfects and not missing). If you bump the speed up and your accuracy suffers (you'll hit things too late), you either need to get used to it, or play on a lower speed. If you can get used to it though, all the better; increasing your speed helps readability.
