Dance Mat problems, NEED some better suggestions

Yeah, this is probably what I get for buying a stinking cheap pad. Had a nice one bought on e-bay already, but it was stolen off my porch before I could pick up the delivery... so I didn't get my money back and I wouldn't be in this problem... go figure. So I get a cheap one with the money I had left.

It's a Kanomi pad that came out of a Disney "Cheetah Girls" game package and believe me, I was only buying it for the pad And I'm using it with a red octand ps2 computer adapter which I have used with other pads on Step Mania and have worked fine. Problem is, the pad will work fine in the menu but not in game. See, I've tested it by pressing with my hands instead of my feet and it will work just fine... but feet, it just won't do. I will find that half way in a song, if my foot is on an arrow for too long (for example your normal left and down arrow stance) the arrow won't react any more until you actually pick your foot up off and wait a second, then it will work... as you know this makes holds out of the question. So if it does this in a song... you lose out on a string of steps before it starts working again.

I know there is no way to fix this I'm sure so I will just have to get ANOTHER pad. But I would like some suggestions on which kinds of soft pads function the BEST with Step Mania as so I don't run into this again and lose out on more money. Any suggestions are welcomed!

Well if your going to use it for SM, might as well just play DDR for the PS2 and stick to that. No need for playing SM with a soft pad since they are all crap. But i advise buying a $20 Gamestop pad. Ive been through 4 of them (first broke in 1 year, second broke in 6 months, 3rd broke in one day, fourth is still functional, havent tested it in a year though) Either way, its probs the most Decent one working. Ive been through a sh!tload of pads and it holds the best. (Buy a metal pad in the future)

p.s Buy a metal pad in the future unless your aweomse like me and get free plays at 3 DDR machines and 2 ITG machines in the state.

Yeah, that's why I don't play console DDR stuff any more... all their songs are "bubblegum" crap (sorry to anyone who likes it) I get every song I have from the FFR site or make my own. I'm not fond of metal pads either. I know they last, but I have to stomp just to use them, or wear shoes. I'm a light footed person and play more like ballet then break dancing. I'll check into that. I might go for more the official name brands from the actual DDR games and not these off color brands then just re-sell the game alone.
