Play both index and spread.

Anyway, when I started spread, I played dfjk, took me a while to realize that my old keyboard couldn't read quads with that setup though, so I switched to qwop, and have been playing that since. Though very very recently, my p key on this keyboard is starting to stick down sometimes, so I've been playing qwio on this keyboard, but qwop on other keyboards.

I can still index well, I just need about a week of doing nothing but index and then I'm set.

I'm ambidextrous in the FFR world.

When I started spread, I missed 3-finger (2 hands) so badly it was awful. Then my rank started going up on every hard song I had played (except the streamy ones). Just give it some time, you'll see an improvement.

Update / Bump -

I AAA'd two songs today using Spread, I used the combo/accuracy masker on the FFR Beta to help, and I FC'd 11 songs.

Pretty good, I've only been playing 3 days and I'm doing really well.

While your two AAAs are undoubtedly AAAs that you didn't have before, you might want to post things like this in the FFR Scores thread on the Brag Board.

At the same time, I'd advise not posting AAAs of 1s anywhere on the BB unless they're Synth files.

Have fun with spread though, I know I do.

North-American QWERTY keyboard

I use this setup because of the bumps on my keyboard on f and 5 respectively. Makes it convenient. Try spacing it out more. It's awkward, but you'll love it when you're used to it.

Nah I think I'm having fun with my current setup. I'm going to try and AAA some more songs today, and Ground, I'm not going to post a thread yet for some silly AAA's that veterans will see and laugh at.

So I'm going to wait maybe a few more scores and just post a "My Spread Scores" thread..Maybe

Can't do anything about it?! We can resist! We can improve! We can become better than the spreaders! Right now, I'm learning how to hit hands with two fingers! (It's true, too!) If I perfect this art, then I will no longer be held back by the constraints of the spreading tyrants! I can start a revolution! I can prove that with hard work and diligance, you don't have to switch!!!

But I know it's become a spreader's universe, and it's the easiest thing in the world to take the path of least resistance...

A year from now, when FFR releases the first Level 2 file with quads in it, I'm going to log off of FFR, quietly set my keyboard on fire, and move to Greenland to live with the snow gnomes.

The snow gnomes don't put hands in their files. They just don't.

Hands with two fingers? Not hard. Puts too much strain on your hands, my hands cramp up if I'm constantly doing a song, for like 7 minutes, with spread they don't.

Hey, I only do spread occasionally on Stepmania! Never FFR! I don't even play spread on the same COMPUTER as I play FFR! Don't judge me!

Incidentally, hitting hands is kind of tricky index. Just saying.
