    question for some1 experienced

hello, Ive been training on stepmania for a while now and constantly improving my MA, now I can do like 1 perfect for every 12 or so marv but now, the improvement has kind of stopped.. or really slowed down idk lol. But anyways, I'm just asking some1 who's better's personal opinion. For instance, does sightreading improve overall accuracy - ive never really done this. Does making SM full screen compared to windowed make a difference for you, and does the keyboard matter.. oh and does hitting the keys lighter help in any way?

Honestly, I find that the window size doesn't help to much. I play FFR ALOT better then I play stepmania, due to it's fullscreen. Keyboards to matter. When I'm on a normal computer, the keyboard keys feel harder to press down. Unlike my laptop, where I can just slightly graze it. Sightreading helps quite a bit in my own opinion. Keeping my eyes on the bottom of the screen, and just memorizing the beat of the song helps me AAA and FC alot of songs. And keep combo's on songs I normally wouldn't be able to. For instance, without Sight reading, I couldn't get past a 400 combo on death piano. When I do sightread, I can get up to 600-800. Depending on how I do. The pressure you exert on your keys is solely up to you. But, when playing upbeat songs, I usually tap alot harder, to keep the rhythm in mind.

Personal preferences is solely up to the person playing. Sight reading may or may not work, depending on if you good at doing so. Just keep practicing, find a technique that best suits you

Best way to improve accuracy is to keep increasing judge, and the rate the arrows go up the screen.

As you get better your improvements will naturally start to slow down. That is because it gets harder and harder to improve upon a gradually increasing gradient.

All you can do is continue to play songs of all varieties and keep trying to improve. Over time you'll get improved scores on songs and you'll notice improvements here or there, though they will lessen as you get better as I said, but they will happen if you continue to play regularly.

        To answer your questions:

For instance, does sightreading improve overall accuracy - ive never really done this.
Sightreading = Playing a song for the first time (going on sight rather than knowledge of arrows / song / etc.) Thus you must have done this for every single song that you have played. Sightreading can be good as you go more on instinct, but when it comes to accuracy you need to memorise the arrows just enough to hit them, but not enough that you think too far in advance. Try to just go with the song and let your fingers do the hitting, not your mind.

Does making SM full screen compared to windowed make a difference for you
Personally I never saw a difference and I guess it only helps if your SM lags on full-screen. It depends where you like to look on the screen, full screen also will make the arrows appear to move faster due to the stretching of the full-screen.

and does the keyboard matter.. oh and does hitting the keys lighter help in any way?
Keyboard can matter. Personally I always used my keyboard that came with my PC and I never had any problems. Others buy stuff like the logitech elite and find improvements. It's the individual more than the keyboard if you ask me. Hitting keys lighter doesn't matter unless you're hitting lots of notes fast then it should help you slide over them easier to hit more.

Honestly, I find on a sightread I'm fairly likely to do better than average because I don't have any preconceptions yet about what's coming up.
