Compressed notes? x,x

Ok so this is how it is. I can "see" the whole song from Easy up To Very Challenging. But from there and on harder levels, the notes are too "compressed" so I can't when to press which button, and it ends up in me mashing the button randomly at many times in the song. Does anyone have any tip how to improve this, to see the notes better? My finger speed, in my opinion, is enough to hit on the master levels but by not being able to see and react to all the notes... well it makes me play worse ;/. So I'd appreciate any tips :]

Change the rate in "Settings" to a faster rate. That'll be easier on the eyes, but of course you first need to get used to the speed.

You can also try screencutting, which is reducing the size of your window so that less arrows show up on the screen at once. Some people even use a combination of speedmods and screencutting.

I play 1.75x with screen cut. I do better with that than with 2x.

Ah, I see. But I don't understand what screen cut will do :S I tried it and I don't know what's supposed to happen xD. Will it improve my reaction time?

It does roughly the same thing that speed mods do - reducing the number of arrows on the screen. This was a technique used before speedmods were implemented in FFR. Some users still use it (or a combination of this and speedmods, like spinal_compression).
