I tried out 1.25x on Secret Zombie Room - no problem.
1.5x - no problem.
1.75x - Ehh... I lost around the end
2x - .....
3x - This is totally not fair.
I think I might stick with 1.5x unless I decide I wanna be like Tass.
Well I guess reaction time also factors in. I have a relatively fast reaction time, so I can play on 2.0x quite handily. AAA'd Jelly Roll Blues, blackflag a for masters only on 2.0x.
I can FC Challenging (without mash) on 3.0x, but that's with not very good PA :P

Before speed mods I used screen cut and had a good majority of the screen cut.
After the speed mods came out I started with 1.50 and then moved up to 1.75 which I think is best.
gar: as others said... it usually takes time to adjust to a faster speed mod. so as you move up, it'll be too fast. gotta give it a bit of time.
Yeah, I see that. My reaction times are generally very good, so I'll move up with time.
The only thing I don't like is that it seems like a stepfile loses a 'layer' of itself if you don't play it in 1x. Not sure how to explain it. You can see more at a time with 1x and the stepfile has a 'distinction' about it, with the arrow placements and whatnot. But on higher speeds, you don't see it like that. Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

God, the duplicate frames on every every arrow is annoying. I thought it was my eyes at first. Though my eyes are pretty bad from all those nights staying up and playing my gameboy in bed with the magnifying glass + light thing as a kid. :P Sometimes it looks like 1 of 2 collinear arrows is above the other slightly. I need glasses.
Depends, but I would suggest this. Start out at a comfortable level. Then move on one. At first, you will suck, but you'll get used to it. Then when you do, move up again. And so on until 2.0. I wouldn't advise jumping to 3.0, unless you are crazy and have the patience to practice it enough to read it.

O god i used to do that too.
I remember when I was like, "C'MON PIKACHU, EVOLVE."
Then I realized I needed a thunderstone.
