    Question re subscriptions

    Okay, I've been meaning to get a subscription for a while, but one thing has been holding back.

    I don't like the idea of a recurring subscription... I know people who've had bad luck with things like that.

    Is it possible to get a non-recurring one year subscription? I'd prefer it if my resubscription was manual and not automatic. Saves me a lot of headache on billing and other things.

      Well there is gifting subscriptions, but I don't think you can send them to yourself lol.

          It is possible. Just buy ONE "one year subscription" and wait til it runs out THEN buy a new one. I don't think it does it automatically unless you maybe brought one sub then maybe won another one from an FFR event or something.

          If you purchase a subscription and then have its end date extended via some official FFR contest, you will still need to cancel the subscription via paypal or you will be charged again when the subscription is slated for its initial [and each subsequent] renewel

          I subscribe for 1 month on Jan 1st, 2008. On Jan 15th, 2008, I win a spontaneous contest where I posted a picture of 2 Chippendale's models with Chardish's and LD's faces shopped onto it. For this, I get an extra 6 months added to my subbie. So my subbie does not end in FFR until the end of August, 2008, but on Feb 1st, 2008, paypal is going to charge you another $3.50 unless you cancel the subbie.

          Also note: I assume that if you do not do this, the $3.50 will go and extend your subbie through the end of September, but I am not 100% sure.

          Again, I know this does not affect that many people, but for those who it does affect, it may come as a surprise.

              See, the problem I have is with the automatic renewal. I can understand them e-mailing me a note saying "Hey, just so you know, your subscription's going to expire in x amount of days", but I don't like the the idea of it just renewing without me telling it to. Too close to AOL's billing methods...

                  If you pay through PayPal then you can log on to your PP account and cancel the subscription. You would have gotten when you already paid for but when it runs out it will not renew.

                      Here's an idea

                      Write down on a calender the date your subscription will expire, and cancel it before the time comes up to renew it

                          You can cancel it at any time. It will only cancel the reuccurence and you will still get your full years worth.
