1. Grammar and spelling
When you type with proper grammar and spelling you get a few things.
1. People don’t think you’re an idiot. This does not always apply, see Beethovens mask.
2. People will actually read your post; I myself usually don’t read posts
that I can’t understand.
3. People will respect your opinion when it is presented properly.
2. Spacing and Paragraphs
No one likes to read a block of text, use some way to organize separate thoughts.
Some examples are normal spacing (which I do the most of), making a list, or using some sort of visual representation.
3. Making double posts
Making double posts is never good. You may even do it on accident, maybe you got a little crazy and double clicked the submit button. Anyway you do double post, remember, you can always delete your mistake. Click edit, select delete, and then click delete.
4. Flaming
Something I have a problem with, I shouldn’t really be talking about not flaming people.
Flaming is one of the top contributors to people being banned. If you feel the need to flame someone, private messages are usually the best means.
5. Making excess posts/threads
Try not to make too many posts; your average posts per day should not go over 30.
Threads on the other hand, clutter up the forum. You really shouldn’t make over 1 thread a day, of course if it’s absolutely necessary, no one will care if you make another thread. Just make sure it’s not 5 in one day.
6. The Garbage Bin
I recommend that you only post in this place if you are extremely funny, or you are a more known user (2+ years, there are some exceptions).
I for one have only posted there a couple of times, as I think it’s scary as hell.
7. Advertising
Don’t do it. That is all.
8. Ban etiquette
If you are banned, you are probably banned for a good reason.
Don’t come and post on the forums using an alternate account because you think you are special and don’t deserve a ban. Private Message the mod/admin that banned you instead of making a thread in which everyone flames you.
No one gets away with ban evasion.
The only exception is MrRubix, because apparently he is above the rules.
9. Bumping Old Threads
Bumping old threads is usually frowned upon, but there are some cases in which it is okay
10. Elitism
Many users have decided that since they have more posts/game plays/points than other people than they are better than them. Don’t be like that.
However, new members should pay respect to veterans.
11. Reporting
If you ever have a problem or want to report a thread or post, than don’t rely on the report button or the admin/mod’s comment wall.
The best thing you can do is add Tasselfoot and Mald0n on msn/aim. They will be able to respond immediately.
I know I have probably done all of these things, but it's good for other people to know.
Tps222 has already made one of these threads, but I'm looking for this one to be much more in depth, and I may update it with more things I'm sure to remember tomorrow.
If you have suggestions for more things to add into this, go for it.
