I'm a spread and index player(mostly index). I'm pretty damn good at it too. but when i play one handed, i have no idea how you guys do it. how do you do up and down trills like in neon-213 and how do you hit the up and down arrow during a jump? do you hit between the up and down keys with your middle finger or do you use your index and middle? i keep practicing one hand, but i never seem to be able to do that. any tips?

Re: One hander question
I'm one of a few people who use their index and middle. Most people use their middle finger. -
Re: One hander question
When I do 1 handed (just for fun) i use just my middle finger for up and down. I have a laptop keyboard, so for streams I slide my finger back and forth.Funny stuff goes in this area right?Comment

Re: One hander question
For what it's worth, I tend to vary my technique. If the trill is slow enough, I can hit both the up and down arrows with my middle finger. When it gets faster though, I have to switch to using my middle finger for up and my index finger for down. If it's *really* fast, sometimes I just hit both the up and down together with my middle finger, hoping to hit both arrows within acceptable ranges to keep my combo going. When I know it's a trill though, I usually try to hit the keys at slightly different times if I can. I know with other key pairs using two different fingers that's easier to do. I'm not sure exactly how I attempt to do it with only my middle finger for really fast up-down trills.
For up-down jumps, I hit both keys with my middle finger. Since I play on a laptop and the keys are basically flat, it's fairly easy for me to do this. On a regular keyboard where the up arrow is raised compared to the other three arrows, I'd probably have to do something different, like use two fingers. Fortunately, I almost never play on a regular keyboard, just my own laptop.
Essentially retired now, but still ranked on the list of FFR's Top One Handers.

Re: One hander question
Index / Middle is the best way to do it. You can use your middle finger to cover both but expect some boos.1st in Kommisar's 2009 SM Tournament
