    Screencut Vs Speedmods comperison Info/Test

    Wanted to find the corresponding Screencut/Speedmods spots on screen
    for that i needed to find out how much time/frames takes for an arrow to reach the perfect spot since appearing on screen

    At 1.0x (At a recording of 20FPS) it takes the full 20 frames

    the following mods are

    1.0x - 20 frames
    1.25x - 16 frames
    1.50x - 14 frames
    1.75x - 12 frames
    2.0x - 10 frames
    3.0x - 7 frames

    now its possible to reduce the number of frames from the base perfect zone of 1.0x that is 20 frames to find the on screen corresponding Screencut location of each speedmod

    1.0x -
    1.25x -
    1.50x -
    1.75x -
    2.0x -
    3.0x -

    the fact is its easy to know the spots without all this work but thats boredom for ya

    one more bit of info
    while playing at 1.0x the game runs at 30 frames per second in which the arrow will move in every frame
    but when playing on a higher speed mod the number of actual frames the arrows will actually move will be cut down like so.

    1.0x = 30fps
    1.25x = 27fps
    1.50x = 25fps
    1.75x = 22fps
    2.0x = 20fps
    3.0x = 10fps

    give or take a frame or two
    again that is only based on what I'm seeing here on my computer

    Good thread.

    I still don't get why someone would screencut if they can use speedmods now.

        Because they're not exactly comparable.

        One has to do with the distance between notes and one is just how many notes appear on the screen.

        Personally, speed mods help me more than screen cutting.

          I actually think this should be stickied; it's very useful for people who want to try both methods, or even incorporate both- such as playing 2.0x on like a 1.25x screencut

                Cool, new we know where inbetweens are. If we want 1.85x, all we need it to screencut between 1.75 and 2.0 somewhere.

                Very useful.

                  the game runs at 30fps ..i only done the measuring with 20 but the results are the same
                  i recorded one arrow moving from the bottom to the perfect zone. on 1.0x it takes the whole 20 frames for example to find 2.0x which takes 10 frames of movement for the arrow to get to the perfect zone i move frame by frame in virtualdub..backwards 10 frames then i screenshot - paste in photoshop and add a line where that arrow is..
                  so 20 is just the measurement the game runs at 30

                  EDIT: but actually now that i think of it i have a question for tass
                  the game runs at 30 frames per second when you play at 1.0x
                  but if you will play at 2.0x i am pretty sure the game will run at 15 frames per second

                  is that true?

                  if its true then its something i never been aware to. it makes the 3rd style 60fps version that more important.
                  you could play at higher speed mods and still have high fps\
                  if that is correct then those are the stats

                  1.0x = 30fps
                  1.25x = 27.5fps?
                  1.50x = 25fps
                  1.75x = 22.5fps?
                  2.0x = 20fps
                  3.0x = 10fps
                  fps = actual frames of visual arrow movement from bottom to perfect
                  and all of that if your pc has enough power to run optimally i would think

                  Edit: yes its true just checked it. if you will play at 1.0x you will enjoy 30 frames in which the arrow moves in every one of them
                  but if you will play at 2.0x the arrow will move 20 times.
                  so screencut has a plus you can play at full fps
                  now i understand a 60fps version will really make a difference since i started playing stepmania recently the low fps really got noticeable also

                      the arrows just skip spots as you increase the mod. so 2x would have the arrows hitting every other frame instead of every frame. so, i guess it would simulate 15fps... but it's still 30fps. which is what lets the timing window remain the same.
