A different way to spread

This was an interesting idea that I got off of another topic but I don't remember how long ago it was. Anyways, the thought came to me when I was playing guitar hero and had to hit trills. Well, with your fingers in the right spot, most people can hit fast trills with their index and middle finger, which I would assume is normal. Although, on guitar hero, it sucks when you can't move your hand and have to do a trill with fingers like the pinky and ring fingers.

That brings me to my point, has anyone ever tried not using their index fingers to play FFR songs? Or, not using your middle fingers? Middle\ring or index\ring would be the set up. I tried the index\ring set up and I was surprised that it wasn't difficult to switch. If you feel up to it, why not try this out? I've personally found out I can trill just as fast with index\middle as I can with index\ring.

It's just a way to add a little more variation to FFR.

I used to use middle/ring whenever my index fingers hurt from playing too much xD. It was never as good for me as index/middle, but it could get the job done; I'm sure with practice it would have been a formidable replacement.

I've always used middle/ring. Probably in part because of the really small arrow keys on my laptop.

I think pettanko is one hand using your index, middle, ring, and pinky fingers.

pettanko is rings and pinkies, so getting scores like that with your ring and pinky fingers is like lolwhat

Your pinky should only hurt if you're playing pettanko, and doing a song with a bunch of jacks.

Pettanko=spread but with pinky/ring instead of index/middle

As for the question, yes, my pinky hurts before any of my other fingers do. You just have to train yourself to keep your pinky in check.

Was away all day, sorry. The next point I wanted to make after this was if it could help with guitar hero at all. Trills are hard with ring and pinky fingers so training them with all the time that people spend playing FFR, you could gain skills in both games hypothetically.

Sometimes I wonder if this game has developed such an extensive lexicon that a 'concerned' yet impressionable parent may stumble upon these threads and panic.

This is Pettanko. I think Cetaka was the first to popularise it.
