Diversify your playstyle. There are many fun ways (not just keymaps or mods) to interact with the basic concepts of this game. If you repeatedly persist under one method, you will gain and condition yourself to repeat various bad habits. =)

          Re: FFR Physical limits?

The best things I've done for practice were:

To improve speed just play SM. Lots of fast songs on there.

To improve read also play SM with higher speed mods.

To improve accuracy also play SM with higher judge level.

also, the short breaks really do help. Sometimes you just need time to recover. Take like a week or 3 off.

Hmm, I'm wandering if there is a physical limit on SM/FFR...
Is it actually possible to physically AAA Vertex Beta vRofl, etc...?

spread is playing with two hands and two fingers on each, which is the one our playing seeing the button location. index is playing with just your index and one hand is... obviously one hand. your playing with spread and that seem to be the one that everybody uses. it's the easiest one to use too

Dude I know exactly how you feel. I'm at that stage too, where I feel I'm not getting better. Except it's not true. The thing is, you will get better slowly. And you won't realize it until after a while. Just the other day I got 17 goods on Hero's Theme. That blew my mind away. o.o Don't get me started on the time I FC'd CIA Rave. My mouth dropped.

And today I went to play {Rose} and I couldn't believed I nearly passed it with 0 boos. I did mess up at the end, but I couldn't even combo the first part without getting a few boos and crappy accuracy.

Just practice practice practice. You will get better. I find that songs like Hajnal and Choprite (lol I typed Chopright, but then fixed it) really helped me improve. Don't stick with stuff you can FC. Push yourself! You won't get better if you don't screw up.

Play a lot, and mix up your song choices. Playing the same songs doesn't help, as I found out.

Imagine my reaction when I FCed CIA Rave...I had been struggling with that song for YEARS, and even though it's one of the ugliest FCs ever, I have yet to beat the PA.

Try different songs. If you're playing VB so much, try slightly slower songs like Nova Pulser and Gradeus (both of which are 180 bpm instead of 200). I have a feeling you'd do quite well. Like today, I was playing EHHS (both versions) quite a bit, then I went and FCed Gradeus.

Yeah, i FC'ed Cia Rave yesterday, with TONS of boos and avg. Somewhy this song is hhhhaaaarddd.
Well, i started focusing on AAA's now.
                          And i did {Rose} with 2 Boo's and 0 avg 0 miss, but 40 good. I think i just suck at vertex

Higher speed mods can teach you to read better.

Alternating between playing with music on and with music off can help your accuracy.

Playing with different key setups/keyboards can help your physical speed. This is true for a few reasons:

                            1. Sometimes keyboards are old and crappy and have a limited input rate. My laptop keyboard, for example, can't handle vibrations worth a damn. Some keyboards are just better and are more responsive. Some keys are thick and heavy and require too much micromanagement, whereas keys that are too flat can sometimes feel funny. Experiment and see what works best for you.

                            2. Different key setups make a big difference sometimes. If you play spread, make sure your hands are at a comfortable angle. Sometimes you can't reach optimal speed/accuracy if your hands are at funky angles that don't feel right. Figure out at what angle you're able to achieve maximum speed and control relative to both hands and try to assign keys appropriately.

Start out with easier songs until you master the basics (staircases, jumps, runningmen, jacks, stream, gallops, etc), and then start upping the difficulty as you master more and more.

Just constantly recalibrate your play style and settings until you figure out the optimal mix. Focus on what you suck at and then do what you can to improve those weaknesses. There are all sorts of aspects... some people dominate in accuracy, while others excel in reading really complex patterns, or have great speed, etc. There are all sorts of ways to pinpoint why your skill may be plateauing... trick is just knowing where to look and how to improve it!
