    Freaking Nova Pulser

I've probably played this song about 125+ times today, along with (I'm estimating) another 300-400 times before, yet for the life of me, I CAN NOT FC this song. It just baffles me how around 1000 have been able to get through the jack part and get a decent combo, let alone FC it. I've tried different finger techniques (I'm a 3-finger player, but I've been trying spread and index). I've even tried mashing my way through it to no avail. This is the only song where my rank is above 1000.

If you've even gotten through the jack part, how exactly did you do it? Do I just have to practice, practice, practice, or is there some secret to it that I don't know? Even so, how do you get through the entire song without misses? It's like certain parts are better for certain fingerings, but this song is non-stop flurry of notes, so trying to switch in the middle of the song hasn't been working for me. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Worry not; average-misses may be fixed in the near future.

Edit: The only other thing I can say is: hit early. Very early. While avmisses still exist, you want to avoid them. You will sacrifice PA, but the combo is much more important.

You could probably just treat that entire section as a series of jumps instead of rolls.

Edit: I just tried that method. It didn't work out too well.

Pretend it's some really fast stream, but treat it like so:

          4286
          6824
          4286
          6284

So basically gallop on the jack arrows as you merge into the next pattern. 42-[gallop8668][gallop2442][gallop8668] etc.

Treat the first jack like a jump, since you need to hit a good anyway.

            Code:
            1
             1
              11
               1
              1
            11
            1
             1
              11
            etc
Why would you put that in your signature? You've lost your signature rights for a month. (You'll get them back on March 10th, 2012.)

If you aren't afraid to get the boos then just ghostjump it and hit notes that aren't there. Kinda like what Xiao said except a little easier but less accurate. If you can do this, then you can eventually do the other, right, way.

Also, I suggest playing on a slower scroll speed than usual. Helps me.

I typically play on 1.75x. So I'll try playing on 1.5x and/or using those gallop and "jump" techniques and report if it helps. Thank you all for your replies.

BTW, is spread the preferred playing style for this?

Ugh, I'm just going to stop for tonight, possibly forever. I've played this song over 300 times today but haven't made any progress on it. I can hardly even make it to the jack part in one combo. I'm literally pulling my hair out because of this seemingly impossible song. I'm just about ready to break my keyboard like I've done before because off FFR (and of all songs, it was over Contra-distinction...). I'm trying to use the techniques you guys suggested, but it's futile because like I mentioned, I can barely make it to the jack section w/ out losing my combo, and then I just fall apart there. I guess I will just have to wait if/when they get rid of av misses, and even then, who knows?

But again, thank you all for the advice. I'm glad you weren't just like "Practice, nub!" or anything of the sort. I appreciate it a lot. If I decide to return to this song, I'll try to implement that stuff, but for now, I think it's best if I just step away from it before I break my wireless keyboard, lose more hair, or worse.

It's true that if you stay away from a song for a VERY long time, then you can improve radically - if you have the patience to wait weeks or even months before trying again.

hmmm...I found it probably the most overate song ever...it's extremely easy IMO, jacks in general are overated, just hit the note early and you'll do fine, treat the last notes of the rolls as 32nd's and that'll give you them, the rest of the song flows and is an easy combo aswell, but that's just me...

Are you kidding? Jacks + Avmisses = Quite a challenge to FC

Like smartdude and xiao said, treat the jack notes as a jump with the note before it, so you hit that note a bit early. That's how I got through the song with a FC and decent PA.
