    Midi Song

I'm trying to make a song to possibly be placed on FFR, just now I realize it's a MIDI file and have no way of making stepfiles for it in StepMania.

Anyone have an idea of what I could do?

I figured that, but I don't know any good programs to do it with. I found 1, but it lets you record 10 sec of it, except, it makes it sound awful. Any suggestions?

I know how to convert midis to mp3s, directly, but it'll still have the same exact quality of the midi. MIDI quality leaves a lot to be desired, if possible, you'd better find an mp3 version of that song

Play it while running a recording program then save it, although the quality wont be perfect .

RageVI, could you tell me how? The quality is better than what most midis sound like, it's just that it's a midi file, so I can't use it.

go to www.goldwave.com and download the Goldwave demo. Set goldwave to record "what you hear", press record on Goldwave and then play your midi. Save the recording you made in Goldwave. It will be a .wav. Now, if you have any mp3 encoding programs, use it to convert the wav to mp3.

Okay, 1. I can't open the midi. 2. How do I set it to record, "what I hear"?

You play the midi with whatever program you use to play your midis. To set Goldwave to record, click on the button that looks like a little dot and a check in the control window (The little box with the play/stop/record buttons). This will open up control properties. Go to the volume tab and select something that says either What You Hear or MIDI synth. (This will be different but similar with different soundcards). What you Hear will record any sound your computer makes, midi synth will record any midi synthesis your soundcard produces. Either should work. Then go out of that, start recording in goldwave, then press play in whatever plays the midi.

Okay I don't have either of those options, but I had 2, Stereo Mix and Mono Mix that recorded it, but it sounded like it was going through a blender with some water in it 0_o.

... sgx, you can use goldwave to convert wavs to mp3s, I do that with my sonic the hedgehog songs that I convert with winamp

                            in winamp:
                            1. open the song
                            2. go to options : preferences : output : nullsoft diskwriter plug-in
                            3. then press play (and turn repeat off, should you have it on)
                            4. when its done, return your settings to output : direct sound output
                            5. enjoy your new .wav of the song (it should be on your desktop, if you see the side note below)

side note: the plug-in comes with winamp, and you should change the preferences of the plug-in to send the wav it to your desktop

moogy can be of assistance with it, he helped me.. better to just im me. MasterofPARANOiA is my aim

oh, and goldwave comes with a .dll that's missing. search for it and copy it to the goldwave folder, it should be able to make mp3s then
                            Afrobean16 (8:58:05 PM): you're evil incarnate

yea i know you can if you get the .dll or plugin or whatever. The demo doesn't come with it, so I was trying to keep it simple. Everyone has mp3 encoding programs already usually, so there wouldn't be much need to bother with the extra Goldwave mp3 setup crap.
