    Linux, key to success?

Okay, so I recently created an Ubuntu partition on my computer because I would be dealing with UNIX/LINUX environments frequently in undergraduate research, so I wanted to be prepared. Anyways, sitting there with no idea how Linux worked, I figured I would try some Flash Flash Revolution. I don't know if it is the craziness of Vista, or just Microsoft in general, but I am consistently outperforming myself simply by playing in Ubuntu.

Firstly, I played Rose, a song I have not yet FC'd. Needless to say, I didn't FC it, but my score was very weird... about 4 misses, 5 boos, 7 averages, and WTF 9 goods. That is right... I had almost perfect PA on a song I can't even really do all the way yet.

For example, until about 30 minutes ago, my best score on CIA Rave was horrible, it was a FC, but probably about 50 or so greats and 10 or less averages. I could do the song, but my PA was horrible. I just played it in Linux, for the first time in a few weeks, and I got 10 greats and 2 boos. Almost getting SDG on a song that I hadn't even tried to PA before is impressive.

I also AAA'd Alpha Helix, an easy song that was nonetheless giving me some hard times (previous high score was 6 goods)

Anyways, I guess what I am trying to say, and the point of this thread, is why is this so? Is it simply the greater amount of memory needed by Microsoft OS's to function? Also, has anyone else noticed the linux edge?

For anyone who is in desperate need of some PA improvement, I would seriously recommend trying this game out on a Linux machine.

(I am not some Linux fanboy, I am pretty much a total n00b at Linux and just noticed this phenomenon recently)

Well if you were playing with Vista before that may have been your problem :P
Try it on an XP machine and see how you do.

Most likely, if you have an older computer, Linux will have better performance than Windows, but with most of today's generation computers, the results will be the same. Just my opinion.

My computer is about 99 percentile in terms of power.

      Dual SLI Geforce 8600's
      Intel Quad Core 2.1
      2GB SDRAM

no problems with my computer... I have played this game with XP with a decent computer and have about the same PA as with my new one (similar keyboards as well)

This is definently something innately different with Linux for me

(I just took all my FMA songs from about 1.7k rank to about 200-400 rank... definite drastic improvement for me.)

Sometimes it's just the computer itself. For instance, I perform better on my home computer than on my friend's computer. When I'm on my friend's computer I almost consistently get as many goods as I do perfects.

I have experienced this too, but in general, in most cases it is some kind of deal with the monitor and/or keyboard. Generally, the keyboard is the biggest deal for me, a bad keyboard = death.

This is the same monitor, same keyboard, same computer just a different OS.

Anyone with multiple partitions experience any of this?

(it isn't just a fluke, I just increased my avg. rank from 900-830, which is a big deal for me)

Heres the thing guys, Linux in general is a faster operating system than windows. So in windows you might get .5 delay between key strokes while in linux you might get .2 or something (not actual numbers just example). Vista is also a resource hog and can cause enough lag to make you miss or atleast not hit as good.

And it wouldn't matter how many partitions you have I think what your talking about is a different OS on another drive or partition.
