An Open Poll, With Request To Synthlight.

State your opinion on the scoring system. Now that there are challenges this needs to be addressed.

Make it less dependent on combo. I have no objection to the scores being wiped.

well it sbeen addressed many times, and again in think synth is working on it, and again we need to be patient...but i say that combo should matter, but it shouldnt be the greatest factor...scores will and should be wiped if any change is made to the scoring system

FFR has to be as different from DDR and it's simulators as possible. Making the scoring system more dependant on combos emphisises this. That is the reason why it like this, I don't think Synthlight will change it.

The system is fine, could use a couple tweaks here and there, but for the most part it's fine.

I think it should still be dependent on combo, but on every combo, not just full combo. I think whenever you start up a combo, a score multiplier should go into place, thus giving you incentives to continue your combo, but if you screw up halfway through you don't automatically lose.

i'd go for number 1. But I prefer a stepmania style system.

Stepmania scoring system all the way...

Of the choices, I would go with #2.

The problem with the combo system is this:

                  1) Most difficult songs have "easy" parts to combo and "hard" parts to combo (Uber Rave is a perfect example of this, with the 250-something notes in the middle that are a cakewalk.)
                  2) Thus, your highest combo is always going to be the combo that includes that easy part of the song.
                  3) Thus, your entire song performance is being mostly judged not on how well you did on the song, but how well you did on the parts immediately before and after the easy part of the song. (In addition, an accidental miss in the easy part of the song means definite defeat, no matter what.)
                  4) Thus, as long as you don't have significantly more misses than the other player in a challenge, the winner of the song is almost completely determined by who can continue that one combo for 4 or 5 more seconds before accidentally missing.

Is this any way to judge the better of 2 players? 4 or 5 seconds of music?

This sounds like a good idea. The whole combo thing is unique, and differs FFR from the rest, but it shouldn't be that dependant on combo's. See anti's post.

Combo shouldn't matter at all. I have no objection to the scores being wiped.
I like this, based on skill, not luck. This would give accurate results on how good you really are, then how long you can hold a combo. Only problem is it isn't original. But this isn't the only thing that differs from the rest, it's still unique. Gets my vote.

The current system works fine. Change nothing.
Hellz no biotch . I hate how this is dependant on how long you can hold a combo. It's practically luck! Comparing skill is so much more interesting then comparing luck. I hate it. It's the only reason I don't play more then 3 times a day.

I want the system to be changed, but I don't want my scores being wiped.
I highly doubt that would work. Say right now someone plays... OMW, boo whores, and FC's it (not possible due to glitches I know) with 200p, 500g, 275a, 0b, 2,000b. Now they have 2mil plus. After the change, the best anyone can do is say... 500p, 400g, 75a, 50b, 50b. That's like half a million. Wouldn't work.

I just wanted to say option four is retarded, and that I do agree that combo does take up too much of the total score

Make it less combo dependant, go ahead and wipe the scores. the people who are on the scoreboards now shouldn'treally care, because if they're really that good, they shouldn't have a problem getting back on those boards again. It would also clear up the problem with all those hacked scores.

i wouldnt mind shortening the perfect window either...i mean its reall easy to AAA many songs...it is kinda pointless when 50 people AAA the song...i dont think the window should be like it had been at the beginning but i think it should be shrotened a little

Really easy to AAA many songs? I find myself getting around 10 goods even on the easiest songs. But maybe this is just because they're so old they're insanely offbeat.
