Keyboard Problems?

Well... i don't know if this really relates to the topic but... this is the only place where I know I will get a good yes or no answer, and since google obviously doesn't help at all...

ANYWAYS, down to the problem.
I just got a brand new laptop like... 2 days ago? And i've noticed when im playing Stepmania I can't hit a certain combination of arrows =S
For example I can't hit left,right and up all the same time. The up doesn;t work. Down works but up doesn't...
There are a few other combinations but I haven't been able to find out what they are yet. And see this is a real big problem on FFR too for fast or hard songs, because you need to go fast. But my keyboard doesn't register them if it goes to fast...

So im wondering if there is a fix for this problem? If nobody knows I might just check Dell tonight when I get back from school and see if there is a driver I can get or something.
Or maybe the rumors are true that Windows Vista is this horrible and you can't do anything good on it.

yh!! i had the same problem with my dell computer, before i traded it in for a packard bell, im not sure what u can do, but i took the easier and the more expensive way out! Humph!! oh and u r rite.. vista is rubbbish, u cant play ffr on it properly.. it dont register in time and you get the judgements about half a second after, really annoyoing, and im not the only one.. some of my friends said so aswell!! all the best.. hope it gets better!!

In Stepmania, remap your keys so you're using not just the arrows keys, but the keyboard letters as well.

In FFR, use an AHK script to do the same.

Yeah i was noticing the lag in there too.
I thought it was just since I didn't play in forever that my PA was horrid now.
But i guess that makes sense =

Hmm, i did that for Stepmania and it still didn't seem to help =l
It works sometimes but sometimes it doesn't regiester.
This is starting to piss me off =D

Ahahahahaha, oh I just saw the Vista part in your OP. Stepmania tends to be a little shaky when ran on Vista, the same with FFR.

Yes... Laptop keyboards are very rarely ever glitchy.. And you'd be able to tell by just going into word and testing that out... Stepmania isn't the best way to test that. I'd say... Get XP? Maybe look at stepmania's forums (if there are any... Haven't checked on that) for things like that... Or google stepmania for vista or summthing like that...
I don't know how much more you could do on that... Maybe use the key-mapper that someone made that's shown in this forum... It's a hot thread, so it'll be in here somewhere... Brb, getting link.

Do i need to download a WHOLE NEW XP disk? =l
Or is there a way I can downgrade?
Vista looks nice but... I don't like the way it runs.

You can always buy a USB keyboard. They restricted the amount of keys pressed on your laptop, for an example. If you hit all of the letter keys at once, they will not all come up.

I have bought a cheap $30 keyboard that works around the key problem and plays FFR just fine (if not better than the laptop keys)
