I don't think there is a way to get credits yet but... I think you use them for the food. I used all of my credits while clicking the Feed button.

i fed my pet with out using credits or having problems. although i went back and had 0. they better fix this as the pizzas do nothing.

Psh...this makes no sense. I'm also trying to find my pet in profiles...but it goes to 2 profiles a second haha. It's impossible to catch.
