What's a good program to use to create stepfiles?

Stepmania is the easiest program to use when making simfiles. I would really just try to learn how to use that instead of trying something else.. -

My problem is not being able to listen to the song while stepping it. And putting the arrows in is really confusing. XD Is there an easy way to do it? Or do I just need to get used to it and stop complaining about how hard it is and actually learn how to do it right right way?When all else fails.... Hit it with a brick.

Sounds like you're stepping stuff by pressing record and creating steps that way. Don't record stuff. Just hit Ctrl+P in one area then memorize that one measure of music then think about what you want to put there. Play that measure again, then lay down your steps. Play again after that to see if it matches what you wanted

Heh. My very first files were made by highlighting about 300 measures, setting the notes to 192nd notes and keeping the default BPM, and stepping notes with Record.
But, uh, yeah. Stick with Stepmania, and do what Rebirth said. That's exactly how I do it, and I'm willing to bet most people don't do anything much different.

I guess I do this the hard way. I guess at the arrow placement, then play the song with assist tick and adjust as needed.Comment
